On Wednesday, October 7, Holt Food Frenzy wraps up its 2026 season at the Holt Farmers' Market, 2150 North Cedar Street. Food trucks fill the lot outside the old Delhi Township firehouse from 4 to 8 p.m., with outdoor seating and the smell of kettle corn and barbecue drifting down the block. After this one, the Wednesday night crowd is gone from Cedar Street until spring.
The Last Wednesday Before Cedar Street Goes Quiet
There are seven Food Frenzy nights a year: April 22, May 13, June 10, July 15, August 12, September 16, and October 7. April is takeout only. Every other date has seating, and past events have drawn 800 to 1,500 people each. Check holtfoodfrenzy.com for the October music lineup.
Chuck Grinnell, who has managed the Holt Farmers' Market since it opened, told Holt Now why the format rarely changes:
"If it's not broke, don't fix it."
The market doesn't close for the season. Because it's housed in the former Delhi Township Fire Department building, the Holt Farmers' Market runs indoors every Saturday all year, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where the Crowd Goes After 8 P.M.
Cedar Street now has places to go once the trucks pack up. Summerlands Brewing Company is a short walk south at 1957 Cedar. Gravity Smokehouse Brew & Que is a short walk north at 2440 Cedar. Esker Square, at 2030 North Cedar, added apartments and live/work units right on the corridor. You can eat at the market and finish the night at either restaurant without moving your car.
Burchfield Park in October
Burchfield Park, at 881 Grovenburg Road, is a short drive from the market. Its 540 acres along the Grand River are starting to turn color in early October. The trails and two disc golf courses are open, but boat rentals and the beach are summer only.
Entry is $3 per vehicle for Ingham County residents and $5 for nonresidents. Disc golf is $5 per person for the day. The park opens at 8 a.m. and closes at sunset, so start an after work visit early. Once the snow holds, Burchfield switches to cross country skiing, sledding, and its warming lodge.
What Comes After October 7
The Boo Bash Vendor Show is Saturday, October 10, at Washington Woods Middle School. The Holt Farmers' Market keeps its Saturday hours through the winter.
October 7 is the one night each year when you can catch both Food Frenzy and fall color along the river. The Wednesday after that, you get neither.
Looking Ahead to 2027
The 2027 Food Frenzy schedule hasn't been announced yet. In past years, dates have come out in early spring, with the first event usually in April. Keep an eye on holtfoodfrenzy.com and we'll share the new dates here as soon as they're posted.
